Fulbright Grants

U.S. Department of State

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international exchange program sponsored by the United States Government. The  Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State is the executive branch agency responsible for the Fulbright Program, which is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Program promotes leadership development through learning and international cooperation. The Fulbright Program operates in more than 155 countries and has provided over 300,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach, and conduct research in each others' countries and to exchange ideas. Approximately 8,000 grants are awarded annually. The Fulbright Program provides opportunities for:

International Education Programs of the U.S. Department of Education

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education administers the overseas International Education and Foreign Language Studies program authorized by section 102 (b) (6) of the Fulbright-Hays Act. The program differs from other Fulbright-Hays activities in that its objectives are research and training with no provision for lecturing assignments overseas and no direct exchanges. The program is meant to improve U.S. education in modern foreign language and area and international studies.
